Sue Wordsworth
A painter and printmaker who reinterprets the natural world through close observation and imagination. Her work weaves elements of real and remembered imagery with dreamlike responses.
Using paint, pastel and collage, monoprint and etching processes she creates patterned layers of drawing.
"I approach my chosen subjects with intention but without fixing particular narratives to them, allowing my sensory responses to guide the work. Drawing, for me, is both meditative and deliberate, a process of careful decision-making as the image evolves. I often begin with observational studies, which then lead to more intuitive exploration in the studio. I am interested in fragility, the ephemeral, and in expressing a sense of awe and wonder for both the natural world and humanity."
